TALE OF THE TAPE
Gilbert Burns looked sensational in his win over an aging Demian Maia in Jacksonville Florida.
Burns, a Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt, escaped from a full back mount and rear naked choke attempt by a fighter widely considered to possess the best Jiu Jitsu skills in MMA today, or ever, for that matter: Demian Maia. Let me know in the comments if this is up for debate.
PREDICTION
Gilbert was in phenomenal shape for the fight against Maia. If he shows up in that type of shape again, and he is fired up, I am predicting an early night for Woodley.
The former UFC Welterweight Champion, Woodley, has failed to impress in last several outings. Tyron is in no danger of having anyone confuse him for an exciting fighter. The only way he wins is if he comes in with a chip on his shoulder the size of a rocketship to mars. He’s going to need his boxing skills to be on point, as I see this as going one of two ways: either Gilbert knocks out Tyron, or Tyron knocks out Gilbert. Either way the fight is not going the distance.
The only way this fight goes the distance is if Tyron’s defense carries the fight. Woodley is the most defensive fighter I’ve ever seen to win a belt. I’m predicting a fired-up Gilbert Burns earns the knockout in the first.
Tune in to the UFC at the Apex this Saturday night if you want to be a part of the action. Come back here and let us know if we were right or wrong.
Enjoy the fights.
By the way, if Durinho really does mean “The Chosen One”, then Giblert Burns gets added to our recently revised list of
